This was supposed to be a big deal. I had just received my new
stripes and already I was flying deputy lead radio operator, a job
usually reserved for seasoned veterans. We had just pulled into
formation and we have a fire on board. I never did get involved in
fighting it but I understand it was somewhere around the
bomb bay. (Not a good place to have a fire) Finally we got it under
control, dumped our bombs in the English Channel and Aborted back to our
base. It was a great relief to get back on the ground. They just told me
now I must fly 35 missions instead of 25 ,and this one doesn't count My reaction,
"THANKS A LOT" |
